Introduction to Strength & Conditioning Program for Boys & Girls in Grades 5-7 (6 Week Program)
A Safe and Effective Introduction to the Weight Room
Do you have a 5th, 6th, or 7th grader who is eager to start their journey in strength and conditioning? Our program offers a safe, structured, and fun introduction to the weight room, designed to set young athletes up for long-term success. We believe that the wider the base of the pyramid, the greater the peak, and our program is tailored to build that foundation.
Through this six-week program, your child will not only gain an outstanding learning experience but also develop proper speed and strength skills at an early age, giving them a significant advantage in sports and physical activities.
Program Highlights:
Speed Development:
Developing proper speed mechanics between the ages of 10 and 12 pays major dividends later on.
These skills are not inherent but learned through structured practice.
We focus on teaching proper motor skills to ensure athletes benefit now and in the future.
Mobility:
Our performance mobility system incorporates stretching, flexibility, and strength.
Athletes will learn to gain control through a full range of motion.
Includes structured warm-ups and cool-downs to promote safety and recovery.
First Step Quickness:
Athletes will practice transitioning from a stop to start position rapidly, a critical skill in sports.
We teach how to optimize acceleration by applying force effectively into the ground.
Various drills and starting positions are used to challenge and develop these skills.
General Strength:
Confidence in the weight room starts with mastering proper exercise techniques.
Focus on bodyweight exercises like squats, pushups, rowing variations, and core training.
Emphasis on performing exercises through a full range of motion for maximum benefit.
Game Speed:
Athletes will learn to create space on offense and close space on defense.
Structured drills progress through three distinct blocks:
Block 1 (Weeks 1 & 2): Programmed Drills
Block 2 (Weeks 3 & 4): Reactive Drills
Block 3 (Weeks 5 & 6): Reactive/Competitive Drills
